3/4ths animation test.
As a Valorant fan I'm excited to share this fanart project. The goal of this project was to do a deep dive into what makes a Valorant design feel Valorant. From the specific stylization, to the detail distribution and overall execution and theming. I spent a lot of time doing research on what skinlines resonated with people most, while also looking at my own personal collection in game.
After I narrowed down a few directions I went to bluesky exploration, focusing on a few themes. Through this project I wanted to not only push on design, but also my hard surface modeling and design skills. After several rounds of blue sky sketching and exploration, I fully modeled and sculpted this in Blender, eventually taking it into substance for a quick hand painted PBR texturing pass. This allowed me to quickly try out materials before fully committing in the final 2D painting stage! I also was able to try out some animation within blender, focusing on a base idle gear linkage system.
At some point I am going to retopo this model and take it to a fully hand painted UE5 game asset!
